Eco-Congregation
Eco-Congregation is an ecumenical
programme helping churches make the link between environmental issues and
Christian faith, and respond in practical action in the church, in the lives of
individuals, and in the local and global community.
Eco-congregation is overseen by the Environmental
Issues Network of Churches Together in
Britain and Ireland. More info
Aware
of our responsibility as stewards of creation, we formed a “Green Team” in
2005, led by Sally Cashen, and in Autumn 2006 we became the first Anglican Church in the Diocese of Chester to receive an
Eco-congregation award.
Activities include conservation in St Bridget’s
Churchyard; green themes in worship, study groups and children’s work; recycling;
raising awareness of green issues among the congregation.
Look at the file at the back of St Bridget’s Church
for more details.

Rector and by Sally

As part of the programme, Sally produces a monthly
“Green Sheet”, with suggestions about living a more eco-friendly life, and
distributes it to the congregation.

Cashen writes:
Sometimes we may be
preaching to the converted through our green sheets or you may disagree with
the items, but please don’t let that stop you from passing them on to your
friends, and spreading the information, it may lead to healthy discussion!
